Not sure what a Millrite MVN is but I can say with experience it is better to find a mill with ballscrews and steppers already on it. You can do a search or check out my web page. I did a retrofit on an old Bridgeport series I CNC. The Bridgeport came from a school so the iron was in perfect condition and I bought it for $1500.

I've got a 1974 MVN (powermatic/burke) and total machine depth is 48". Mine is stuffed into a corner and it's just about 5' from the corner to the front of the machine. The table on mine is an 8x32" and at max travel in each X direction the handles just about contact the walls, which is why the machine is about 12" from the corner.
This Millrite is a versatile manual machine. It has hand-feed on the X (table) Y (cross-feed), and Z (knee) axes. The standard model had a table with a working surface 7" x 27" with 16" of longitudinal travel. The feed screws are of generous proportions, a full 7/8" in diameter, of Acme form and run through bronze nuts.
